Address Book To Trust
For the tech savvy, there is a quick way to enter lots of trust
connections. Instead
of copying addresses into trust-o-matic, you can use this simple
perl script to automatically load the values into a simple HTML form.
- Download this perl script. Check the first line to make sure the path of the perl interpreter is correct.
- Export your addressbook into a simple text file (any format will do, as long as it is plain text). If you use a unix based mail program, like pine,
your addressbook is probably already in this form.
Entourage, Outlook, and Eudora all allow you to export the addressbook as text.
- Run the program like this:
perl ab2trust.pl addressbookFile.txt
Replace "addressbookFile.txt" with the name of your addressbook file. If
you are using a Mac with OS X, you can do this step with the Terminal
application.
- The script should print an "ok" message when finished, and output a file called "submitme.html".
- Open the submitme.html file in your favorite browser. This form is identical to the first step of the trust-o-matic process. The addresses from your
book will be included in the correct field. Enter your personal information and submit the form to begin the rating process. If there are addresses you
do not want to rate, simply leave the trust score blank for those addresses.
