The movie is interesting, but it does a poor point making an argument about the rise and current power of the military-industrial complex. There was a lot of promise, but the filmmakers conflated a lot of issues with their main point, and frequently brought in issues that didn't seem to have any connection.

First off, you have to love any movie that terms itself a Zom Rom Com (Zombie Romantic Comedy). This was a very funny movie playing on the traditional zombie horror film. Cute references to 28 Days Later pop up in there. It's not a deep film, but entertaining and worth the $8 ticket.

This is a sci-fi original film. A death-row convict is brought to Evil Pharmaceutical Company where, unknown to the attractive female scientist, her money-grubbing boss is planning to subject the inmate to human testing of her radioactively-altered mosquitos. The inmate manages to grab a gun, kill a bunch of people, and, before escaping, cause an explosion that releases radioactive material on him and the scientist. He turns into a giant mosquito and starts killing people with a proboscus, and the scientit's husband, who just happens to be the cop on the case, starts investigating him. Meanwhile, the scientist is suffering her own symptoms.<p>

Basically, this is a stereotypical B-movie with monsters and gore. The acting is mediocre, and script is mediocre at best, but it's not the worst movie I've ever seen. Frankly, I think it delivers exactly what one would expect from a movie titled "Mansquito".<p>

This movie was one of the most egregious wastes of my time ever. The quality of the acting has been surpassed by many a high school play, and the plot itself was weak (not to mention necessarily predictable). I cannot for the life of me understand why people flocked to see this movie over and over again.<p>

Also, the sky shot when everyone is in the water, and whats-her-name is looking up at the starts is totally faked. The right side of the sky is just a mirror image of the left side. For a movie that billed itself for its attention to detail, this seems to be an unforgivable bit of laziness. While that wouldn't necessarily break the movie for someone, it's just one more nail in the coffin from my perspective.

If I had been given access to the theater's projection room, I literally would have cut out every scene with stupid JarJar in it. He got on my nerves more than a cockroach in the kitchen. I was completely disappointed by this movie. It could have been so good, but it ended up being a tool for creating a children's product line.

Jaws is, without a doubt, my favorite movie. I can watch it again and again. The shark is totally believable, and the shots from the sharks perspective are an excellent effect. FANTASTIC!!

I have not read the book, so I can't say if this movie is in line with it. However, the graphic violence here seemed excessive. I sensed that there was a theme addressing the mental state and potential transformation of the main character, but if it was supposed to be there, it was dramatically underdeveloped. <p>

Violence of this magnitude cannot stand without a stronger plot or character development to balance it out. I kept waiting for something to make this movie worthwhile, but I walked away just feeling ill.

Michael Moore has a lot of points here that are vaguely tied together. In fact, it almost seems like there are two movies here - one about Iraq and another about power, money, and the Bush administration. Most of these points could also be legitimately supported, but the evidence he gives tries to be inflammatory rather than logical.
At the same time, it was tremendously refreshing to be in a movie geared toward my end of the political spectrum.

Dakota Fanning is amazing and she was my favorite part of this movie. Robert DeNiro was also obviuosly good, but the script was lacking...at best. There's a twist at the end. It's a lame twist. A lot of bits get picked up and dropped without being resolved. Overall, it's worth renting but not seeing in the theater.

I read the book before seeing the movie, and the book had a point. There was a deep social commentary there, amidst the violence and torture. The movie, however, lost much of the meaning of the book. The violence was not justified by the plot, and the message was left very shallow.<p>

A lot of people who love this movie love it because they know it is supposed to be deep and important, not because there is actually a lot to love here. Read the book instead.

The first time I saw this movie was on VHS in my dorm lounge. The tape was kind of messed up and it totally fuzzed out right as the detective dropped his coffee cup, and then came back with him outside the station looking around. I couldn't figure out why all my dorm mates were scraming "NOOOOO!!!!!!" because it went out at that point. So I feel like I got cheated out of the great life experience of seeing this movie with the ending, but I still love to watch it. What an amazing film.
